Nanette Lepore - Doing 'The Next Right Thing'

Nanette Lepore, a New York fashion designer who manufactures 85 percent in NYC.
Nanette Lepore is doing what is right . Doing the next right thing in front of her.
It is obvious, it is right there in front of us.
We just know, it feels right. And it is LOUD.

It is only my opinion but, how is it, that it is an 'artistic personality' or an 'ARTIST,' that actually cares about their country ???
I don't see other many other business types actually caring about the well being of their communities.
I am sure there a few, but they probably have HUGE right brains !
And a nice sized conscience, or at least they can still hear theirs.

Money is nice.....but how high the cost ?

"In a sense, we have a reprieve," said Nanette Lepore, a New York fashion designer who manufactures 85 percent of her clothing line in almost 30 independent factories within a few blocks of her office on West 35th Street. "But we’ll be back in this battle again, if we don’t decide that the garment district is important to the heritage of New York."

High rents are hardly the only problems plaguing the city’s fashion industry. Employment in the apparel trades has been shrinking drastically for decades, as tens of thousands of jobs have moved to China and other low-wage countries. After peaking around 275,000 in the 1950s, the number of apparel manufacturing jobs in New York has steadily declined to around 20,000 today,.........

Carleton Varney Accepts His Lifetime Achievement Award

I am sorry for the horrible picture on this tape, but my very small, fit in your purse, "this is so handy cam" , takes lousy pictures if you are more than 10 feet away. ( I was only about 30 feet away. )

But at least you can HEAR the introduction and Carleton Varney .

January 21st 2009

This is the introduction to Carleton Varney Accepting His Lifetime Achievement Award at

The Design Center of The America's aka DCOTA.

Mr. Varney was clearly moved by the award, and it is obvious through the language of his acceptance speech.

Easy Packin' Flat Bulbs

Finally, a light bulb for 'the klutz' in all of us.

Everyday there are new products and new technologies are being invented... A Korean designer named "joonhuyn kim" has designed a new kind of bulb named 'flat bulb'. Unlike other ordinary bulbs, it is just 1/3rd of the size with equal power. This slim shaped bulb helps to reduce the costs taken for packaging and transports. This type of bulbs can be prevented from breakage during shipping, as it does not roll. Currently the work was on display in Tokyo and there is no announcement whether this concept will go into production.

What A 'Smart' Car !

This car is absolutely smashing ! I love it.
Hermes Orange ( interior ) only is the way to get it.

Could anything be better than a car with the touch of HERMES ?

Customers will be able to choose from a range of ten color combinations, with yellow, teal, black, red, green, and Hermes' signature orange among the list of options.

http://www.smartcarofamerica.com/news/smart_news/the_herm%E8s_smart_fortwo.html

While the base price on the Smart Car for around $13,990, the Hermes edition is almost three and a half times more expensive, coming in at a heady $48,500.

OR

The official name of the highly exclusive Bugatti Veyron “Fbg par Hermès” refers to the historic Hermès headquarters on the Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, in the heart of Paris’s eighth arrondissement: the “Fbg” appellation evokes the house’s “faubourg” address.

Personally, I think these two partnerships are just a perfect fit.

Hermes & Bugatti.
Hermes & The Smart Car.

The interior is done in Hermès leather and features new internal door handles reminiscent of handles used on Hermès trunks, there is also a Hermès wallet which is designed to fit inside the center console and a Hermès suitcase designed to fit inside the trunk is also included. The car is only available in a unique combination of ebony and étoupe colors with a beige interior with black seats.
